While full-length projects can be exciting and inspiring to work on, they can also bring with them creative fears and anxieties. Untended to, these feelings can block our creative process and make it difficult to keep up momentum on the project. Given the duration of longer projects, we might also find that we have shifting access needs and capacities throughout the life-cycle of the piece.

This workshop gives us space to be compassionately with these fears, anxieties, access needs, and capacities, and to offer care to the parts and embodied sensations that accompany what’s arising. This care can then catalyze a newfound energy for our creativity, opening up portals to playfulness as we engage with our full-length projects.

We will experiment with creative prompts across artistic disciplines to cultivate a spirit of play and to open different pathways to our creative projects. In the middle and at the end of the workshop series, we will share excerpts of our projects with the group, utilizing the power of creative community to help us find encouragement, care, and excitement for our projects.

In this 7-week, generative workshop, we will:

  • get to know our creative fear/anxiety/blocks about our full-length projects,
  • cultivate curiosity around our creative blocks and access needs,
  • practice offering compassion and care to the fearful parts of us,
  • have dedicated creative time with our projects each week,
  • playfully interact with our full-length project across artistic-disciplines,
  • share our work with each other in a mindful, compassionate workshop environment.

This workshop is for folks who are:

  • currently working on or dreaming of a full-length project in any artistic discipline (for example, full-length books in any genre, feature-length films/screenplays, dance features, installations, plays, albums, etc.),
  • experiencing creative blocks due to fear, anxiety, or shifting access needs,
  • longing for deeper self-compassion for all that is arising while working on their full-length project,
  • wondering how to access more curiosity around difficulty that can accompany a full-length project,
  • seeking a playful community-space,
  • dreaming for more time with and creative prompts for their creative project.

This workshop will have no more than 6 people in it. While this workshop includes group check-ins and discussions, participants may opt out of any activity that they prefer to. No one will be required to share. We will spend time in the first workshop agreeing upon community safety agreements which must be maintained through the course of the workshop. Zoom captioning will be available, as well as verbal and written instructions for the generative practices offered.

Workshop sessions will take place on the following Sundays: 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5 from 11am-1pm MST (1-3pm EST, 10am-12pm PST). Please note, there will be no workshop on 3/8.

The fee for all 7 workshops is on a sliding scale of $300-700. If you are in a financial situation that allows you to pay closer to the higher end of the sliding scale, please know that doing so, you allow me to offer this workshop for lower rates to participants who might otherwise not be able to participate.

You can register for the workshop now and pay later, as long as payment is received prior to the start of workshop. You may also pay the fee in installments at a pace that works for you, as long as you email me to discuss this and the first installment is received prior to the start of workshop.

There is one full scholarship spot available. If you are interested in the scholarship spot or would like to to discuss reduced rates or payment plans, please email me at reinventingcreativeprocess@gmail.com before registering.

Please register using this form. Registering will sign you up for all 7 workshop sessions. You can pay the sliding scale fee through venmo @Lauren-Samblanet
